I earned my undergraduate degree from Southern Connecticut State University in English. I have always been passionate about literature, reading, and writing. As I continued my own education I also fell in love with teaching. I love creating creative and engaging lesson plans to help my students meet their academic goals. I feel I am able to best share my passion for education by working with those students who are in need of more encouragement and assistance. I currently tutor a wide variety of subject areas, including reading, writing, essay editing, phonics, literature, English grammar and syntax, English, and comparative literature. Additionally, I help students who are preparing for the ACT, ISEE, SHSAT, TACHS, ISEE, HSPT, SSAT, and other standardized exams. I know just how important it is to get to know each of my students. This makes it far easier to take their learning style and academic needs into consideration when planning out their program of study and individual lessons. It also helps to know what their specific goals are to help them stay focused on their motivation throughout their tutoring sessions. I believe that another integral part of the tutoring process is regular assessments. These can be informal or formal, but they need to be regularly done to monitor progress.
